Resources for Parents and Educators
JamboKids has just released a new guidebook for parents and educators. The 50-page guide is intended to provide parents and educators with a helpful set of resources for promoting positive character growth in children. It is presented in a handy worksheet format that contains tips, discussion prompts, and activities that enhance children’s natural character strength development. The materials may be used by themselves or in combination with the other JamboKids children’s products.
The character strengths presented in
the new parent’s guidebook are the most well researched collection
to date of the psychological ingredients of good character valued most
by moral philosophers, religious thinkers, and educators across
different eras and cultures. Dr. Richard E. Rawson, Psy.D., a
psychologist and the author of the new parent's guide, explains, "[it]
focuses on what is right about people and specifically about the
strengths of character that help them live good lives and be successful
in a global world."
The format of the 24 two-page worksheets in this parent’s guidebook includes a description of what the character strength is, what is involves, and why it’s important. Next, you will encounter several teaching tips and ideas for discussion and sharing with your child. In the following section, you will be introduced to some activities to create a “hands-on” experience with the subject matter. Finally, each worksheet ends with a section for listing behavioral goals that can be cut off and posted on your refrigerator to keep track of your child’s achievements throughout the week.
