JamboKids Dolls & Books Receive 2008 Preferred Choice Awards from Creative Child Magazine
Great Falls, Virginia, June 30, 2008 — Soft dolls – with the names
Rachel, Jazzie, Anya, Tilly, Luz, and Niecey – and storybooks featuring
a Chinese Celestial Dragon, a Russian Snow Leopard, a Mayan Little
Butterfly, a Liberian Dream, a Songbird, and a Surprise Pie, inspired
this year’s Creative Child Magazine Awards panel earning JamboKids,
maker of multicultural dolls and storybooks for children, six top
honors in the 2008 competition.
Creative Child Magazine's Toy
Awards Program is unique in that all products submitted are reviewed by
moms, music educators and early education professionals. Products are
not reviewed by any one person. They are reviewed by many people – the
very people who purchase them.
Each year in May, a 2-day event
is held in Henderson, Nevada where over a hundred guest reviewers are
invited to attend the organized review event at a local convention
center. All products are divided into categories and displayed at
various review stations. Guest reviewers are asked to sit and review
each product at one station and then move to another station and so
forth and so on. This allows for each product to be given multiple
reviews.
All award winners are officially announced at
www.creativechild.com
and are showcased in their big Holiday issue, distributed in early
November. Only one product per category can win a Toy of the Year
award. The remaining finalists receive a prestigious Preferred Choice
award – given to Runners-Up of the Toy of the Year.
The following six JamboKids products wowed this year’s Creative Child Awards panel of experts:
PREFERRED CHOICE AWARD (Dolls with Storybooks Category):
Rachel Doll & Book Set
– In Rachel and the Celestial Dragon, a magical wind takes 5-year-old
Rachel and her dragon kite on a fantastic journey back to ancient
China. There, in the land where she was born, Rachel meets the real
Celestial Dragon and Little Sister, her ancestor. Her exciting
encounter leads her to discover her true destiny and sets her on a path
to become a very wise woman.
PREFERRED CHOICE AWARD (Dolls with Storybooks Category):
Jazzie Doll & Book Set
– In Jazzie’s Dream, you are swept up into a storm at sea on a magical
journey back in time to Liberia, the land of Jazzie’s birth. There, she
saves the life of a village girl who shares a common cultural
connection. Through her adventure, she learns more about herself and
discovers that she can overcome her uneasiness about being a leader.
PREFERRED CHOICE AWARD (Dolls with Storybooks Category):
Anya Doll & Book Set
– Sample a bit of Russian folklore in Anya and the Snow Leopard as Anya
encounters the mythical Baba Yaga deep in the Ural Mountains of Eastern
Europe. Anya befriends a Snow Leopard and a Snow Princess, who help her
on her mission to rescue the children who are being held captive by the
witch.
PREFERRED CHOICE AWARD (Dolls with Storybooks Category):
Tilly Doll & Book Set
– In Tilly and the Songbird, a seemingly ordinary tree swing magically
transports Tilly into a deep green forest where she befriends a
Songbird who has lost his voice. Tilly's confidence in her own singing
voice is transformed with a little help from Ilex - the Keeper of the
Forest - and her adoptive family’s inspiring examples of courage and
openness to adventure.
PREFERRED CHOICE AWARD (Dolls with Storybooks Category):
Luz Doll & Book Set
– Make friends with Luz as she learns to express herself through art,
and explores its great power to transform a person who appreciates it.
In Luz and Little Butterfly, ancient artifacts and stunning visual
images magically come alive in her first adventure, which takes her
back in time to visit an ancient Maya civilization, where she develops
a deep love and appreciation for the art of weaving.
PREFERRED CHOICE AWARD (Dolls with Storybooks Category):
Niecey Doll & Book Set
– In Niecey’s Surprise Pie, Niecey pours her heart into a new recipe to
make her new hometown of Benevolent Mississippi a kinder and nicer
place in which to live. In a place where everybody seems to have
forgotten how to smile and be happy, witness an entire town’s
transformation from grumpy to joyous as Niecey’s Surprise Pie puts a
smile on everyone’s face.
Award-winning JamboKids dolls and
storybook characters represent a range of cultures - Asian, African,
Hispanic, North American, and Russian - reflecting the growing cultural
diversity of our society. Through their adventures, they inspire kids
to appreciate differences that they may encounter in our own culture
and prepare them for a global world by modeling life skills and values
that promote cognitive development, emotional maturity, social
awareness, civic mindedness, and other virtues that are universally
valued by people around the world.
The doll and book sets give
parents, grandparents, and caregivers an opportunity to cuddle up and
bond with their kids and give them the attention they crave. They also
help stimulate interest in reading, enhance language skills, promote
one-on-one communication, build attention spans and listening skills,
and encourage a child's curiosity, creativity, and imagination.
